Finding and Hiring Poker Writers

First of all, this is my first time ever hiring a staff of poker writers. I’ve only ever interviewed someone for a job once, and for most of my life I have been the person being interviewed. So, you can imagine the butterflies in my stomach when it came time to create a job posting for poker freelance writers, vet their resumes and writing samples, negotiate their terms, and make final hires.

Whew! Actually, just like it is when removing a band-aid, the worst part was the anticipation. It was far more of a chore creating documents and sending stuff out than it was ultimately making the selections and getting the thing moving. In fact, even though I may jinx myself by saying so, this process, looking back, has by and large been a fairly positive experience.

The writers responded to our job posting en masse, and after I was able to remove the chaff and spam I was still left with a sample of nearly 75 potential writers. Of that, we only needed 15-20 to confirm that they’d write for us under our terms, so I was really liking my odds! Pun intended!

And now, they’re writing away, filling our sites with content. Life is sweet.
