BT Offering 20Mb Upgrade to Customers for Free

The print media, especially the BBC, has in recent times not been kind to BT Retail Total Broadband service by repeatedly highlighting its poor speed in peak hours. This enhanced service will start with 549 telephone exchanges and will cater to nearly 40% (10 million) of the UK’s business houses and residences. Depending upon the customers’ requirements, this service will be extended to about 55% of the user base by March 2010.

Users will gain from not only an improvement in download speeds, but also data transfer speeds of up to 1Mb for uploading.

Gavin Patterson, chief executive officer of BT Retail said that a speedy broadband connection would transform lives in a number of ways as many innovative applications will now be available to users. He further promised to deliver higher speeds to an even greater number of customers as per the government
