Pride at the Poker Table
You’re a warrior, and your battle field is the green felt that is the poker online table. Your sword and shield are your chips and your cards. There is but one trait a warrior must possess and that is pride. When I talk about poker online pride at the table I mean the ability to play with honor and dignity. You are not a cheat and you are not a philanthropist. You do not donate chips just because someone is having a bad night, and you have no mercy on those who wish to play badly against you. But you also have pride in your online poker game. You have the ability to know when to quit if you have to. Here’s the example: You’re playing well in the early morning hours, and you’re getting tired. You’re up about 3 stacks, and then the early morning crowd comes in and is fresh. Sure you’re playing well and you’re running good. But what do you do in this situation. You know you’re not at the top of your game after the eight hour session you just put in. Do you have the discipline to keep your pride and leave. Or do you disgrace your game and keep playing and lose it all. Finally, you have pride in yourself. You don’t blame others, the dealer, or the other players for your loss. You take full responsibility for your actions, and your proud enough to realize this. No one but you was responsible for the outcome, don’t be too proud to admit that it was you who held your own destiny in your hands.
